I really hate needles

So after weeks of putting this off I finally went in to the doctor's office to give blood today. I hate needles and have been scared to death of them since I was 12. Before that I loved them and would cry if my brothers got a shot and I didn't. I don't know what happened but it must have been tragic because I pass out and even go into seizures (sometimes) when I have to get pricked. I hate it!

In Spain they do things a little differently. They stick a fat rod into your arm and then have you make a fist and relax and repeat while they get all the blood they can. It hurt! And of course I fainted. I wasn't allowed to eat or drink anything. I'm pregnant! Hello, I really need food before I get this done. So I don't know why the nurse looked shocked when I passed out. I warned her. I'm defiantly a wimpy american. The good thing is I don't have to get this done again until 28 weeks or so. I hope.

You're a girl after my own heart Eryka. I can relate only too well. Needles is one of the main reasons I did not become a dentist. I've become better at getting shots and giving blood but I have passed out many a time or come close because of needles, pain or the site of blood. Can't believe you and the kids will be here in a little over a week. Looking forward. Love wwg

next time I will draw your blood. I am sorry you keep having bad experiences.

I agree with Tim; he is an extremely good "needle" nurse, and I speak from experience. I'm sure he will be happy to just fly on over there and do the job.

We are really looking forward to seeing you. We just need more schedule details.

Love,
Grandma Gail

Sorry to hear of your experience - believe it or not I see this happen everyday in my job. I try to reassure people it will be okay - but some just can't handle it - I'm sorry this continues to be your experience.

I hope your pregnancy is going well. Take Care.

Sorry they have to take blood and make you not eat before. Yes it seems to make it worse, your already weak. Maybe we need to have your brothers get a shot so you will want to get on also. Just kidding. Can't wait to see you next week. Email us your itinery. Love Ya, Mom
