kinda funny...

So I just called one of the sister's in our ward who had a baby a few weeks ago to ask her if I could bring dinner over. At least this is what my intentions were. After a really confusing spanish conversation I hung up the phone with her thinking I had just invited myself over for dinner tonight. Oops! Obviously this is not a normal thing to do in Spain. If I would have only known. I quickly called Drew and asked him to call and clear things up.

How do I screw up the easiest things sometimes?

Hey, at least you were trying to be cordial and your intentions were good. Did you take them dinner after all? Maybe they will invite you for dinner sometime soon. It's an easy mistake when trying to communicate in a language your learning. I admire your courage.

It isn't hard they say when you are learning a new language they say just one little work has such a different meaning but hope they enjoyed your meal if you ended up taking it over to them. It was nice of you to think of helping her out.

You are so brave and kind. I hope Drew cleared everything up.

On a funny note, when the Warlock and I were in Japan, an old man asked me where my husband worked. I never was very good at remembering Japanese names, and I accidentally gave him the name of the local liquor store. Whoops!

Fortunately I ran into the man again, after I'd practiced saying the part of Tokyo Nick's job was in 50 times and I got it right. He ended up becoming my friend whom I had to practice Japanese with because he was one of the few who couldn't speak English.

So, maybe you'll make a dear friend from this.

Eryka,
I don't know if you remember me, I am Stephanie (Cornwell)Avery. I just wanted to say Hi, and hope you are doing well, and it looks like you are. Good luck with the new baby.

that's funny! you're so cute. I'm sure you'll have a good laugh together when you figure it out.

It's no fun when you have a hard time speaking the language and people are mean to you about it. I used to get so mad at people who talked down to my parents when they didn't understand right away. Hopefully it's not like that in Spain!
